Camping and RV Policies

  • The camping area is laid out with designated quiet and loud camping areas. Quiet areas are in the North camping area bordered by Nordskogen and Jara highways. Please respect these designations. Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. Complaints concerning noise in quiet camping should be directed to the Event Stewards.
  • Any large-scale, decorative structures must be approved by the Event Stewards before construction.
  • No ghost camping is allowed. If reserving space for others arriving later, use lathe and rope or a ground cloth (if less than 24 hours). Please reserve only a reasonable amount of space for your needs.
  • The site has multiple water and electrical points. The electrical points have multiple electrical outlets. Please do not block access to these spots.
  • The Tomah fairgrounds has plenty of room for RVs and Campers. Please contact RV coordinator in advance. It’s possible the space will be full. When you arrive at Gate let Gate know you have an RV before parking the RV.

Group Camping Incentive

If your named camp has 5 pre-registered gentles
Your camp earns an extra 250 square feet of breathing room.

If your named camp has 10 pre-registered gentles
Your camp earns its very own sign that will help your friends
find you at WW.

A Note for RV Campers from the Land Mayor,
RV Coordinator, and Event Stewards:

In an era where people are looking for easier ways to camp and
in balance with our collective membership in a historical society,
we have made an easy test for individuals to know if they should
register to camp in RV or in regular camp.

1. Does your home away from home have wheels?
– Yes – Proceed to question 2.
– No – Excellent – Register where your friends are.

2. Is your home away from home with wheels modern looking?
– Yes – Please register as an RV.
– No – I have a Tiny Tudor or similar – Can register with regular
camping but please check in with the RV Coordinator
before setting up your home.
– I’m not sure – Please email us for help deciding.

Our goal is to maintain a more medieval atmosphere in the
camping area and safety.

Please note that the RV area has flat pavement.

Open Camping Information

Authentic Encampment– The Authentic Encampment is a space for campers and classes that want to pursue a higher level of authenticity and operates as an open learning environment. We host a lot of classes, competitions, and displays but free-range nerding is also welcome and we encourage you to just stop by and see what we are up to! There is a formal open house time on Saturday afternoon, but there’s always something fun and educational going on, so please do visit!
The campers in the Authentic Encampment commit to using period materials and items wherever possible and, at a minimum, keeping modern items out of sight. If you are willing to take on this challenge and would like to camp with the AE, please reach out to Eithni (eithni@gmail.com) to discuss your camp facilities and find out if AE is right for you!

Bardic – If you are primarily a bard, this is a place you can camp to be closer to the circle.  Please note this is not a very large area, and, will be less private as we host the evening bardic circles.  Best place to fall asleep to the sound of stories.

Equestrian – camping space directly adjacent to the barn is reserved for equestrians, whether or not you brought an equine to the event. Both pavilions/tents and living quarters trailers are welcome, but please reach out to the Equestrian MiC, Rosamund Redmare, (skys.the.limit1335@gmail.com) with approximate dimensions that your space requires for planning purposes.

Jararvellir Encampment – The Jararvellir Encampment is a space for people who would like to camp near other members of the barony. New to the Jararvellir area and don’t know anyone? You are welcome to camp with us!  Just choose “Jara” when selecting your land and we will see you at WW.

Nordskogen Encampment – TE Excellencies of Nordskogen welcome all who wish to camp with us. Typically our campmates consist of Nordskogen members, but baronial membership is not required. Our only requirement is to fill out this form: Nordskogen WW Camp.  All tent types / set-ups are allowed and noting there is not a common kitchen / meal plan. Our requests are to keep the Baronial Pavillion (common space / optional class space) clean, help your neighbor, and consider a volunteer shift. While we are searching for a WW Camp Manager and Baronial Pavillion Host, please contact the Baronesses for additional guidance or questions.     Look forward to seeing all at WW!

Smiths – If you are participating in the smith area, this is a place you can camp to be closer to your work.
