WW – July 9th through the 12th, is still accepting pre‑registration until June 1 and the schedules are published, and this week, the volunteer links have posted, along with early entry options. … Are you intrigued? Details to follow after this recap of prior messages;
Preregistration is only open until Monday, June 1 (that’s today), and the newly published schedule is packed with excitement. Equestrians headline with the brand‑new Sunset Joust, Heavy fighters are featured in the Friday‑night Torchlight Tournament and there is a weekend full of melee, Archery, thrown weapons, youth combat and tournaments – each on their respective field, except for Rosamond, Mic of Equestrian, they are on nearly every field. For the peaceful side of the event all can enjoy a full line up of Classes, Casual Artisan Row, and family drop in – all in the *air‑conditioned* Canton Hall, and last but not least a growing lineup of social events from After parties to vigils, all listed on the web schedule tool so you can plan your time wisely.
As if you need more than all that~ NEW THIS YEAR — Volunteer Incentive, early access Program!
(aka: “Do good, get perks.”)
Have you ever wished you could arrive on Wednesday and set up early?
Did you happen to notice last year that a very few people filled many many volunteer shifts?
Our patrons noted this and hoped to solve both situations with one solution; our new volunteer program!
To lighten the load on the few, we are asking people to sign up online for 5 volunteer credits and you’ll receive an email inviting you to early entry on Wednesday of WW week. It’s optional, please don’t not volunteer because you don’t want to come early — just trying to transform a problem into a perk. Volunteer shifts can be at any time during the event to count for early entry, and, we’ve tried to make the system fair and flexible but as a first year we welcome feedback.
Are you asking yourself, what if I sign up for more than 5 points? You can earn credits for someone else in your camp. Gift your credits, or earn extra to help your people get in early.
More detail on the website but here are a few extra facts:
– One hour of volunteering equals one credit.
– Tasks range from specific jobs in during a specific time to general help on a team – Gentles not on the early entry list should not arrive Wednesday without contacting staff first.
– Extenuating circumstance? Email us. (after checking the website for more details…)
And yes, we know this is more of a refresh of a pre‑Covid early access system — but with the speed of SCA generations the details were lost and new people did not know what they did not know.
Last but not least, and, on the theme of volunteering – Bards!
You who weave the magic of our evenings and recall our stories to our young — we need you.
Help us round out the bardic schedule, we are still looking for a few bardic specific classes – we’d love to see the bardic community shine both on stage and behind the scenes.
Find a place to volunteer, help everyone have a vacation at WW, the event we don’t want anyone to miss. Pack your gear, gather your friends, and come be part of the magic.
Warriors and Warlords awaits~
